Research Theme

The core research agenda is to facilitate and support rural social and ecological sustainability through building connectivity across the societal rural-urban continuum. Research focuses on how the capacities and resources of stakeholders across this continuum can be integrated to build inclusive socio-economic models for long term sustainability. Through these models, rural livelihoods are enhanced in a manner that is compatible with environmental stewardship as well as traditional rural customs and institutions. The Centre actively collaborates and exchanges knowledge with institutions in the wider Asia-Pacific region to further build rural sustainability models that are applicable to this context.
